Dear Friends and Neighbors
Welcome and thank you for stopping by for a visit. This site has been arranged to provide you with information about who I am as a citizen and as a candidate to serve you in the NH Senate as well as to encourage your involvement in our campaign. Please spend some time browsing the material here and don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about anything that you see within these pages.
As you undoubtedly know, this will be a defining election for our state. As a member of a new majority over these past two years, I have worked tirelessly to bring the voice of our citizens of District 6 to Concord. Your suggestions have guided all of my legislative efforts as well as my work within each of our communities. I guarantee you a continuing strong voice in Concord if you re-elect me for the coming term.
The stakes in this election could not be higher. Short-sighted policies of past legislatures have lead to years of neglect of our infrastructure, our environment, and the working men and women of our state. That for nine years the minimum wage remained untouched is inexcusable. That almost one-half of our roads and more than a third of our bridges are in serious disrepair testifies to the lack of forward thinking that once prevailed in Concord.
The November election will be about long-term solutions to the challenges that our state faces versus short-term band-aids.
My colleagues and I have been working on the problems that we inherited. We passed a new minimum wage law. After fifteen long years of legislatures that abdicated their responsibility to define and establish standards of measurement for the education of our youth, we passed a robust definition of an adequate education, costed this out and funded it. Additionally, we have established policies that place New Hampshire on the path to a cleaners environment and participation with surrounding states to curb greenhouse gases.
There is, however, much more to do in the months ahead. Our citizens face an unprecedented burden of higher fuel costs and higher food costs along with the devaluation of homes due to the national mortgage crisis and reduced borrowing power. Times such as these require a careful balancing of the power of government to improve the lives of New Hampshire residents with its potential to create additional challenges.
My promise to you is that New Hampshire will not take a step backward on my watch. We must maintain the progress that we have made and move our state forward to meet the challenges of tomorrow. I will, as I have over the past two years, strive for insightful and forward-looking stewardship for our state’s resources. I will insist that your government is there for you when you need it while working to ensure that it doesn’t get in the way of your ability to pursue your personal and professional goals. I will work ceaselessly in this campaign and in my efforts on behalf of our citizens.
But I need your help in this campaign. You are the foundation of this campaign and the focus of my service. Please get involved today. Volunteer to be part of this effort – join me in visibilities around the district, place a sign on your lawn, help us canvass your neighborhood, or contribute financially. To get involved email us or call 833-5458.
I look forward to your help, to working with you over these next several weeks and to continuing to serve you in the upcoming term.
