Madbury girl gets personal tour of N.H. Statehouse
8/31/2010

From Foster's Daily Democrat 8.31.2010
Lydia received a personal tour of the Statehouse from Sen. Jacalyn Cilley, D-Barrington, who offered the tour as a raffle prize to youngsters who participated in the Madbury Public Library's summer reading program.
...
Lydia said she's on her 14th book so far this summer. Among her favorites are "The Mysterious Benedict Society" series. She fit her reading this summer between studying aerial dance, practicing violin and piano, not to mention her family's trip to Philadelphia.
...
"Lydia is so smart and curious and well spoken. It was a delight to show her and her family around the Statehouse. I enjoy the opportunity to support our local libraries and to support our young readers," Cilley Said
Jackie Presents Awards to WW II Vets
8/24/2010
In a ceremony honoring WW II Veterans of American Legion Post 49, Senator Kathy Sgambatti and Senator Jackie Cilley presented each veteran with a NH Senate Resolution honoring their service to their country as well as a NH State flag that had been flown over the Capitol building with an accompanying certificate signed by Governor John Lynch.
Additionally, Post 49 presented each honoree with a certificate from the American Legion in recognition of his service.
It was a particularly meaningful ceremony for Jackie and the Cilley family as among the honorees was her father-in-law, Russell Cilley, and her husband’s uncle, Harold Harbour.
There are 34 WW II Veterans who are current members of American Legion Post 49 and who were invited to be recognized in this ceremony that included dinner and awards. Fifteen of the invitees were on hand, some coming from as far away as Florida.
Both the veterans and their families were visibly moved by the attention that was showered upon them during the event as well as the certificates of recognition. Upon coming to the podium to be individually recognized and presented certificates, one veteran said “I just did my job, I just did what I was asked.” That simple statement was probably the reason that those in the audience and those participating in the ceremony felt so honored to simply be there in attendance with these heroes who have defended our freedoms.
Touch a Truck Day in downtown Rochester
08/19/2010
Saturday, August 14th was Touch a Truck Day in downtown Rochester. Every kind of truck you can think of from dump trucks to fire engines and school buses were on North Main Street for the public to explore. There was also a farmers’ market, music, and other activities for children. This was a great family friendly event and a nice way for people to come and enjoy downtown Rochester. We had a wonderful time learning about the all the different trucks and talking with voters. We had some great conversations with constituents and plan to be at more events like Touch a Truck day in the near future.

Foster's Daily Democrat Endorses Jackie
10/31/2008
Jackie Cilley is seeking a second term in the Senate. Before that she served one two-year term in the House of Representatives.
She is someone who quickly earned a reputation among her colleagues in the Senate and elsewhere — a reputation that marked her as a quick study, someone who does her homework, someone who understands the nature of her statewide constituency as well as those who reside in District 6, and someone who values the opinion of others while not being cowed by senators with more time in their seats.
What we see in Jackie Cilley is someone who hit the ground running two years ago and hasn't stopped running since. What we see in her today is someone who understands we are caught in an economic maelstrom and many of the ideas of two years ago no longer apply. There are people in New Hampshire, including people in District 6, with their backs to wall. They are faced with making hard economic choices and so, too, are their elected representatives. We're confident Cilley is one who can make the hard choices, too.
Jackie Cilley has an understanding of the needs of businesses and citizens. She is qualified to understand those needs by education and as a participant in the world of business. (Full disclosure: Cilley was once engaged by George J. Foster Co., Inc. for her knowledge in marketing.)
We are confident Jackie Cilley can and will cope with the challenges of the next Legislature.
Business experience in Senate Dist 6 Race
10/28/2008
"I'm running because the state is facing it's biggest challenge in decades," Cilley said. "We're facing unprecedented economic circumstances, and it's going to require a steady hand and an understanding of economic principles, as well as the needs of businesses and citizens."
Cilley, who was recently named the state senate's top democrat on business-related issues by New Hampshire Business Review, said one of her goals if re-elected will be to ensure the state enacts a sound fiscal policy, which she claims would consist of balancing needed expenditures with the realities of the current economic environment.
"Some people think a good fiscal policy is just cut, cut, cut," she said. "Our waste water distribution system has been neglected for years, 46 percent of our roads are in disrepair, 37 percent of our bridges are in disrepair; sound fiscal policy does not mean letting this state take a giant step backward to dirt roads and cow paths."
Cilley does not support a broad-based tax in the state, neither sales nor income tax, and has voted to allow debate on expanded gambling and it's potential revenue benefits.
