Jackie brings together local providers to address home heating

Article Date: Tuesday, July 1, 2008ROCHESTER — No breakfast pastry could sweeten the "spiraling problem" laid out by area aid providers on Monday — not when heating, transportation, food and housing costs continue to rise and people seek more help.
The providers were brought together by Sen. Jackie Cilley, D-Barrington, as she begins a summer-long effort to better understand the growing need for social services.

The brain trust was assembled for a light breakfast of muffins and fruit at the Rochester Country Club in what's expected to be the first of several meetings. Cilley had the group focus on the demographics they're serving, the pressures they're facing and what can be done to ease the pain.
There's no quick fix to the "spiraling problem" of increased need and strained funding, Cilley said.
