Meet Jackie Cilley
About Jackie
Jackie and her husband, Bruce, are both native to New Hampshire and are proud of a family heritage that stretches back centuries in our state.
For generations, Cilley family members have fought to protect New Hampshire’s values and way of life. From General Joseph Cilley in the Revolutionary war to Bruce’s service in Vietnam, the Cilleys have a proud military tradition. There have also been Cilleys before Jackie who have served in the legislature. One who became especially famous was the Honorable Jonathan Cilley who served in the US Congress and was killed “preserving the honor of the New England States” in 1838 in one of the last duals ever fought.
That heritage has been handed down to Bruce and Jackie’s five sons, four of whom have chosen to settle in New Hampshire to raise their own families. Collectively those five families have blessed Bruce and Jackie with twelve grandchildren.
Throughout the years, while juggling the joys and demands of being a wife and mother, and with the unflagging support of Bruce, Jackie has had a steady stream of accomplishments. For example, she was the first member of her extended family to receive a college education.
Having been born in Berlin, New Hampshire to parents who worked in the factories of the “city that trees built,” she was instilled with a strong work ethic and the desire to improve her lot in life. A decade after high school as an adult student with her young son, Jackie was accepted into the University of New Hampshire’s undergraduate program where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She went on from there to complete her Master’s in Business Administration at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.
Jackie has owned and operated her own marketing research firm, Cilley and Associates, that provided research services and marketing advice to a diverse group of clients ranging from media firms, grocers, and energy firms.
She also served for twenty years as adjunct faculty at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. There she taught courses in marketing including introduction to marketing, marketing research, advertising and promotion, marketing management and marketing workshop as well as management courses including organizational behavior, leadership, and strategic management. During her years of teaching, Jackie was cited as a passionate advocate of real world education for her students and received recognition for her tutelage of winning student teams in the Small Business Institute program and competition.
Together, Jackie and Bruce started Horseshoes Plus, Inc. a Barrington-based farrier supply company. For more than seventeen years, Horseshoes Plus has been a leading service provider in its industry and has been recognized as such from its suppliers.
Today Bruce manages Horseshoes Plus with his son Rob and Jackie dedicates her time and energies to serving the citizens of District 6.
